The Batman has found its Catwoman.

Zoe Kravitz, who has been making waves as of late, has signed on to play Selina Kyle, also known as the cat burglar villain/anti-hero Catwoman in The Batman, Matt Reeves‘ upcoming take on the DC icon.

Kravitz, the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, has recently wrapped the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies and will be next seen in Hulu’s original series High Fidelity.

Kravitz will follow in the footsteps of Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway in terms of playing Catwoman on the big screen. Pfeiffer and Hathaway played the Selina Kyle versions respectively in 1992’s Batman Returns and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. Berry played Patience Phillips in the panned 2004 solo adaptation.

Kravitz joins Robert Pattinson, who will play Bruce Wayne and his titular alter ego in the film. It is rumored that Jonah Hill may play The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright may be playing Commissioner James Gordon in the film, set to take a “film noir” take based on possibly Jeph Loeb‘s graphic novel The Long Halloween.

The Batman is scheduled to be out on June 25, 2021.
