Maverick Film and Complex Corp has picked up the distribution rights to the upcoming horror film Speed Demon, directed by Jon Keeyes and written by Dominic Salvaggio.

The film stars Katie Cassidy as Sister Lu, a nun who boards a train from Montreal to New York City with Father Novak (William H. Macy). When the demon god Asmodeus takes over the train, the duo must face off against possessed passengers and Lu, having issues about her faith, must overcome her grief and become the first nun to perform an exorcism.

Maverick Film president Richard Switzer had this to say:

“Speed Demon delivers exactly what you want from the horror genre. Jon Keeyes keeps the tension high throughout, Katie Cassidy delivers a terrific performance, and William H. Macy brings an added level of gravitas. It’s a strong film we’re excited for audiences to see.”

Speed Demon will release simultaneously in theaters, VOD, and Digital on May 31.
