It is great to see Chee Keong Cheung back in the director’s chair after his first two action films, Underground and Bodyguard: A New Beginning.

His latest effort, Redcon-1, pits the titular military group against a zombie regime in an attempt to rescue a scientist who may have the cure for the apocalypse that has plagued the city. The only difference is, these zombies can fight back using martial arts, prompting our heroes to unleash their fighting skills to a whole new level of badassery!

Oris Erhuero, Mark Strange, Martyn Ford, Katerina Leigh Waters, and the original El Mariachi himself, Carlos Gallardo as well as Joshua Dickinson, Akira Koieyama, and Michael Sheehan play the military group with Cheung serving as director, producer, and co-producer. Gallardo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman serve as executive producers with co-star Strange serving as co-writer and the film’s main fight choreographer.

Redcon-1 is hitting the UK on September 28. Here’s hoping a US release is imminent soon.
