Soccer player Ronaldinho joins “Kickboxer” sequel

In some very interesting news, Brazilian soccer player and two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho will appear in the currently shooting sequel Kickboxer: Retaliation.

Ronaldinho joins the returning Alain Moussi, UFC fighters Fabricio Werdum and Paige VanZant, boxing legend Mike Tyson, and the “Mountain” of Game of Thrones, Hafthor Julius Bjornsson.

In the sequel, Kurt Sloane (Moussi) is forced back to Thailand to take on a monstrous beast named Mongkut (Bjornsson). Ronaldinho will play the role of Ronaldo, an imprisoned martial arts superkicker who will teach Kurt how to refine his own kicking skills so he can take on the giant brute.

Dimitri Logothesis is directing the film, currently in Los Angeles with production expected to begin in Thailand later this month. Logothesis also co-wrote the first of the rebooted trilogy, Kickboxer: Vengeance, due for release this September by RLJ Entertainment.
