Back in 2015 at the annual DragonFest, comedian and filmmaker Steve Oedekerk had announced that 12 years after the release of Kung Pow! Enter the Fist, he would be making a sequel. However, since then, not much was revealed. So what did happen to the long awaited sequel fans have long waited for?
First, there was speculation that Oedekerk was looking towards getting another kung fu film or even a few kung fu films to splice them and do what he did with the original film: digitize himself in the lead and redub the voices. After all, Oedekerk used the 1976 Jimmy Wang Yu starrer Tiger and Crane Fists as the basis for Kung Pow! Enter the Fist with adding new scenes involving the likes of Jennifer Tung, Leo Lee, and Simon Rhee along with John Wick helmer Chad Stahelski as the kendo sporting warrior in the hilarious close-up sequence after the opening credits end.
Then, nothing happened. No word. Not anything. Understandably, Oedekerk focuses on other projects while trying to get this one off the ground, Finally, the answer was revealed
