It’s been eleven years and it is time for Samara to return, and she does so in the first trailer to the third installment of the Ring franchise, itself a remake of the Japanese horror series Ringu.
In Rings, a young woman named Julia, played by Maritza Lutz, becomes worried when her boyfriend explores the legend of Samara, in which a mysterious video is seen and the watcher of the video will only have seven days before his or her death. Julia watches the video and discovers something more terrifying.
Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Zach Roerig, and Laura Wiggins co-star with Bonnie Morgan taking over the role of the evil Samara, replacing original actress Daveigh Chase.
F. Javier Gutierrez directed the film with a screenplay by David Loucka, Akiva Goldsman, and Jacob Aaron Estes, based on the original novel by Koji Suzuki.
Rings will be unleashed on October 28 from Paramount Pictures.
