Robert Rodriguez‘s live action adaptation of the Japanese manga and anime Battle Angel Alita may be landing a certain Colonel Landa.

Christoph Waltz is in negotiations to take on the role of cybersurgeon Dyson Ido, who finds the titular android and reassembles her, in which she will be a hunter-warrior who remembers her skills in the martial arts and hunts down criminals. Rosa Salazar will be playing the titular Alita in the film.

James Cameron will be producing the film along with Jon Landau. Cameron had long championed to make the film, but his work on the sequels to Avatar will prevent him from directing and instead, will serve as producer.

Production is scheduled to begin in the fall for an early 2018 release date.
