In what can be considered a little shocking but unsurprising news, WWE Studios and Sony Pictures have announced that they are continuing one of their trademark franchise film series with a fifth installment of The Marine.
The Marine 5: Battleground will bring back Mike “The Miz” Mizanin (above) as Jake Carter, who has left the life of the military and after a brief run as a personal bodyguard is now an EMT. When he helps an injured man who was beaten at the hands of a local biker gang, Carter must rely on his military skills once again to spring into action.
The film will co-star Mizanin’s wife Maryse Mizanin, the WWE stable known as The Social Outcasts (Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel), and Trinity “Naomi” Fatu, the wife of WWE superstar Jimmy Uso.
James Nunn, who directed two of Scott Adkins’ films, Green Street Hooligans: Underground and the soon to be released WWE film Eliminators, is helming this installment, which begins shooting this Tuesday (May 31) in Vancouver.
