A young boy lives out his dream and tries to be a hero in this Chinese animated film.

When he was a toddler, young Tiger is forced to stay with Master Dao when his parents, who worked as delivery guides, went on a major job but have never returned. Now at eleven years old, Tiger wants to follow in the footsteps of his parents and work as a delivery guide. He also idolizes about a martial arts legend of a band of warriors known as the Five Tigers, led by Master Yang. Little does Tiger know both of those dreams are about to come true.

After taking a job without Master Dao’s permission in delivering a pig, Tiger is nearly kicked out of the agency. However, he actually gets rewarded for saving a princess at the same time from the hands of the treacherous Black Bones, the nephew of the warlord Lord Black. Tiger’s luck gets him to work with his idol, Master Yang. However, this is not going to be an easy delivery as Lord Black intends to stop Tiger and Master Yang before they can succeed.

Originally released in 2022, this Chinese animated film may seem like it’s another martial adventure with a kid as the protagonist. The animation is not too bad with some funny things that go on now again, especially Black Bones’ demise, which is pretty funny. However, if there is one small flaw in the machine, the character of Tiger comes off as pretty annoying at times and while we all know how this turns out, it just seems for most of the movie, he comes off as a brat of sorts.

However, Master Yang is the redeeming factor here. The former leader of the Five Tigers, he is now a “travel guide” (the translation is not great here…I think they mean delivery person). However, he becomes Tiger’s mentor as they traverse through all sorts of weather to make a delivery. Seeking revenge, Lord Black (who uses the Buddha’s Palm as his weapon) is quite evil and looks to avenge The action animation is pretty good for what it is and leads to a surprisingly satisfying ending.

Run Tiger Run is just another run of the mill Chinese animated fantasy that serves as a buddy comedy. However, this is one “tiger” that seems to be more of an annoying “cub” until his redemption in the end.

The film is now available on Demand and Digital
