
Kickboxer: Armageddon has been in development since 2019 and things were looking bleak for a while, but yesterday, a few updates were announced that show the trilogy capper is alive and well.
It has been reported that WorldFilmGeek Hall of Famer and martial arts icon Mark Dacascos has joined the cast in an unspecified role. Contrary to some rumor, Scott Adkins is still signed on to play the main antagonist this time around with Alain Moussi set to return to the central role of Kurt Sloane. It is unclear if Jean-Claude Van Damme will return as Master Durand.
There is a slight change in the plot as well. In the final installment of the trilogy, Kurt looks to avenge the death of his wife Liu (played by Sara Malakul Lane in the previous films) and fueled with rage, Kurt once again unleashes in the Thai underground world of fighting. However, he soon learns the one responsible is a sadistic cult leader, Cesare (to be played by Adkins), and Kurt finds himself fighting for his life.
It was announced that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be distributing the film. The first film, Kickboxer: Vengeance, was distributed through RLJE Films and the second film, Kickboxer: Retaliation, was distributed by Well Go USA Entertainment.
Shooting on Kickboxer: Armageddon will begin this Spring with Dimitri Logothetis set to return as director.
