A cyborg goes on a rampage in this Dustin Ferguson gem.

An experimental procedure has resulted in the creation of a cyborg. However, during the implementation of the robot, a “demon virus” was accidentally installed in the cyborg. To make matters worse, the cyborg has escaped from the lab. When a content creator and her partner tour the local woods, they find themselves victimized by the cyborg. Can a SWAT team be able to take down the “demon predator”?

Dustin Ferguson’s take on the sci-fi genre is quite strange. Not so much as it lasts 47 minutes. Most of the first half focuses on YouTuber Bre and her partner Dan, played by real-life couple Breana and Daniel Stier. They spend a lot of time in the woods doing research and looking around until we get a glimpse of the cyborg causing havoc. The cyborg himself is obvious CGI and the visual effects wizard behind the creature also provides the voice of the antagonist.

Guillaume Rivaud, who went a bit over-the-top in Cocaine Cowboy, becomes a bit more grounded in the role of “The Boss”, who must go to great lengths to ensure the robot is found and stopped. Erik Larsen, who starred in Ferguson’s Cobra Strike Force, is really good as Dr. Mattel, one of the scientists responsible for the mishap and has feelings of guilt, which eventually leads to him deciding to take action. Ken May, Joshya Moomey, and Kurt Boyd play a trio of SWAT agents who attempt to stop the cyborg after it’s announced on the news about the “demon predator”.

There is a bit of comedy in the form of the news interview between the reporter and a bumbling scientist who isn’t involved in the project and a crazy evangelist who see the cyborg as the Devil. The film ends on a cliffhanger, which features a cameo from the director himself.

Demon Predator is not what I expected from the world of Dustin Ferguson as it ends on a cliffhanger and there is yet to be a sequel to wrap up the story. However, the cast makes the most of what they have to work with and if there is a follow-up, I’d be all in.
