As much as Easter is a joyous holiday, there was a shockwave across the Hong Kong film industry and fan community with the passing of Richard Ng Yiu-Hon on Sunday at the age of 83.

Ng was famous for his brand of comedy in the early to mid-1980s, where he was a member of the Lucky Stars gang, appearing alongside Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao in Winners and Sinners, My Lucky Stars, and Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars as well as the Pom Pom franchise, where he took the lead. He would also go on to make numerous appearances in other films where he would show his comic wit and later, play more serious roles in films such as Bodyguard: A New Beginning and Lara Croft, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

After the 1997 handover to China, Ng moved to London, England (where he earned his education), where during semi-retirement made appearances in British television series and some films as well. He would appear in a few Hong Kong films in the 2000s alongside his son Carl and made a cameo in the 2016 film Skiptrace with Jackie Chan.

Ng is survived by wife Susan, and children Carl, Alex, Zoe, and Louise.

WorldFilmGeek sends its condolences to the family of Richard Ng. Here is one of his funniest scenes, pretending to be invisible in the 1983 film Winners and Sinners.
