The Final has arrived as fans await The Beginning of the legendary former “Battosai”, Rurouni Kenshin.
On April 23, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final was released in Japan and reunites Takeru Satoh as former assassin turned hero Kenshin Himura and director Keishi Ohtomo. In the film, Kenshin finds his life turned upside down with the return of his former brother-in-law Yukishiro Enishi, played by Mackenyu Arata, who has vowed vengeance of Kenshin for the death of his sister. The theme song “Renegades” by ONE OK ROCK, was co-written by Ed Sheeran. Check out the trailer below:
Then on June 4, we will be treated to the final film of the franchise, Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning, the prequel to the franchise. We learn how Kenshin receives his signature scars. The film also revolves around Kenshin’s meeting with Tomoe Yukishiro, played by Kasumi Arimura, and his relationship with her as a means to give up his life as the Battosai, the legendary assassin. While these films are/will be out in Japan, the original trilogy, Rurouni Kenshin, Kyoto Inferno, and The Legend Ends, are available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and streaming through Funimation.
Netflix will debut Rurouni Kenshin: The Final on June 18.
Rurouni Kenshin: The Final is now in theaters in Japan and Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning will be out in Japan on June 4 from Warner Bros Japan.
