Claire Foy‘s Lisbeth Salander now has her partner Mikael Blomkvist.
Norwegian actor Sverrir Gudnason has won the role of Millennium editor Blomkvist in the upcoming The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a film adaptation of the fourth novel in the Millennium book series that began by the late Stieg Larsson and was completed by David Lagercrantz with the blessing of Larsson’s estate.
Blomkvist was originally played in a trilogy of films in Sweden by the late Michael Nyqvist and then played in the Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Daniel Craig.
Gudnason recently gained acclaim for his role as Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg in Borg vs. McEnroe, with Shai LeBeouf as McEnroe. Aside from Foy, The Girl in the Spider’s Web co-stars Sylvia Hoeks, Cameron Britton, and Claes Bang.
Fede Alvarez will helm the film, which is set to shoot in January for an October 19, 2018 release date.
