Warner Brothers has finally found its Shazam!
Zachary Levi, who is best known for his roles on Chuck, Disney’s Tangled, and playing Fandral in the sequel Thor: The Dark World, has snagged the role of the DC Comics superhero.
The character, originally named Captain Marvel (which obviously cannot be used) and created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck, is the alter-ego of a young boy named Billy Batson, who when calling out the titular terms, becomes the superhero. The superhero’s name is an acronym for:
- Solomon
- Hercules
- Atlas
- Zeus
- Achilles
- Mercury
David F. Sandberg will be directing the film with production to begin in February for a 2019 release date.
More as this develops.
