After the last few years of news and developments, it is now looking as if the U.S. will finally see Lady Bloodfight, the martial arts tournament film starring martial arts performer Amy Johnston (above) in her lead role debut.
Vertical Entertainment has gained the U.S. rights to the film and have announced a limited theatrical release date of May 5, followed by a DVD release date by Lionsgate Home Entertainment on June 6 according to Amazon.
The film stars Johnston as a backpacker in Hong Kong who finds herself training for a martial arts tournament known as the Kumite.
The film co-stars Jet Tranter, Rosemary Vandebroucke, and Jenny Wu. The film was directed by Chris Nahon and produced by Bey Logan, who co-wrote the script with Judd Bloch. Xiong Xin-Xin served as the film’s martial arts choreographer.
Look out for Lady Bloodfight on May 5 in select theaters from Vertical Entertainment followed by a DVD release on June 6. Check out the North American trailer below:
