In 2015, director Sion Sono took the manga Shinjuku Swan by Ken Wakui and found himself with a hit film. Go Ayane (Gatchaman) played the central role of Tastuhiko Shiratori, who works as a scout for the Kabukicho red light district of Shinjuku, Tokyo.

A sequel will now be released on January 21, 2017 with Ayane returning to the role of Shiratori as he endures more chaos against those who stand in his way. Sono returned to direct the sequel and Kenji Tanigaki served as the film’s action choreographer.
