Legendary director and action choreographer Corey Yuen (No Retreat No Surrender and The Transporter) has executive produced two upcoming films that will premiere exclusively on HBO Asia in December.

The films, a co-production between HBO Asia and China Movie Channel (CMC), are the first in what will be a new series of martial arts anthology films. The news was first announced in July along with the announcement of Yuen’s team member Guo Jianyong serving as director of the two films.

The two films, Master of the Drunken Fist: Beggar So and Master of the Shadowless Kick: Wong Kei-Ying, features real-life martial arts talents from China who are trained in the likes of mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, and kung fu.

Cao Jun, a television actor who got his start in martial arts at the age of eight, plays Beggar So, the role that was immortalized by the late Simon Yuen in the 1978 hit film Drunken MasterSun Hao-Ran plays Wong Kei-Ying, the father of the legendary martial arts master Wong Fei-Hung.

In Master of the Drunken Fist: Beggar So, wealthy So Chan loses everything but is saved by the Beggars’ Sect. He learns the long lost martial art – Drunken Fist, to defeat the person who framed him.

In Master of the Shadowless Kick: Wong Kei-Ying, Wong is a physician who learns the legendary martial art – Shadowless Kick – to take down the ruthless and treacherous new governor of Canton.

The films will be released on December 25 and 26 respectively exclusively on HBO Asia and RED on HBO.
