With The Lego Movie becoming a monster hit at the box office, fans are anticipating the big-screen Lego Batman Movie in February and now, Lego and Warner Bros. Pictures are also at work on a big-screen adaptation of another one of their beloved sets, Lego Ninjago.
A series adaptation has been successful on the Cartoon Network and while details of the big-screen version are not revealed in terms of plot, the voice cast for the movie has been revealed and it will be lead by the legendary Jackie Chan, who will play the Ninjago team’s mentor, Master Wu.
Chan will be joined with Dave Franco as Lloyd, Michael Pena as Kai, Abbi Jacobson as Nya, Kumail Nanjiani as Jay, Zach Woods as Zane, and Fred Armisen as Cole.
Warner Brothers has also released an official synopsis:
“Inspired by the wildly popular LEGO line of toys, Ninjago is the story of six young ninja tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skills and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy: high school.”
Charlie Bean is directing the new film from a script by Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman. A release date of September 22, 2017 is set by Warner Brothers Pictures.
