For quite a while now, a live action adaptation of the 1980’s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has been in development. Many directors were at one point attached to the film, including John Woo, John Stevenson, and Jon M. Chu. However, at long last, it looks like McG will be tackling the film.
Now, it looks like one actor is currently in the running to play the titular He-Man and it is none other than Kellan Lutz, who made the confirmation that he has met with McG via his Twitter account. Lutz is known for his role of vampire Emmett Cullen in the Twilight Saga. However, as of late, he has made himself known in the world of action films, including Arena, Java Heat, and The Expendables 3.
A previous live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe was released in 1987 with Dolph Lundgren in the role of He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. It has since gained a massive cult following.
It is unclear when we will see this new version of the toy line turned 80’s hit cartoon, but it looks like it is fast-tracking.
