A road trip between estranged brothers becomes chaotic in this hilarious film from first time director Mikey K.

Danny and Luke Davenport are brothers who couldn’t be any more different. Luke is the more level-headed brother while Danny has always become eccentric to say the least. When Luke has a chance to move to Ottawa to start a new job at a paleontology center, he reunites with Danny and offers to join him on the road. En route, Luke begins to see that Danny has become a bit unhinged when it comes to conspiracies.

To make matters worse, the police are after Danny, who is an escaped felon. When Luke learns Danny has not been taking his meds, Danny desperately covers it up by tasering Luke. Danny has stolen something he deemed important and he must let the world see it. With the police and more on their trail, this will be a road trip neither brother will ever forget. However, the only safe place may be Taco Gary’s, where it’s believed to be “neutral territory” for whatever this conspiracy is.

The world of a conspiracy theory under the guise of an absurdist comedy? Oh yes! And this is probably one of the funniest movies so far of the year! Writer/director Mikey K has crafted an ingenious film about two estranged brothers, one a conspiracy theorist and the other a level-headed fellow who go on a road trip that brings in unexpected allies, hilarious chase scenes, the absurd side of the conspiracy theory movement, and a very unexpected Macguffin that proves to show that an age old question could be answered in the long run, but that all depends on the viewer.

Simon Rex and Dustin Milligan are hilarious as the opposite brothers. Rex unleashes a funny performance that gives off classic Jason Bateman vibes as the unhinged Danny. As for Milligan, he gives off the occasional Dax Shepherd vibe to his role of level-headed brother Luke. It is so funny to see Rex go off the scales, from holding a grandmother in a car hostage with a taco to attempting to prove a gun is worth by almost self-inflicting himself. It’s just a piece of the chaos that ensues in this film.

Brenda Song also adds to the mix as the “badger” Allison, who at first goes along with Luke only to reveal her true intentions and believes Danny’s insane theories. And yet she comes off as cool, collected, reserved. As for Tony Cavalero’s Kyle, now this is one guy who definitely is in need of therapy. Resembling old school Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot, one can only imagine had Kyle and Danny on a road trip together. Which is why Danny and Luke work together in a Harold and Kumar-kind of insanity. That dynamic works quite well.

But that’s not even the half of it when you see Jason Biggs play a hilarious version of himself with Arturo Castro’s Tiago, aka the “Portuguese Popeye” as Luke calls him in one scene. Then there’s the legendary Doug Jones in a very memorable performance that shows why he is the necessary go-to actor for certain characters. You just have to see it to believe it! Plus the funniest chase scene involving a classic trope done so hilariously over and over again!

Operation Taco Gary’s is a hilarious film debut for Mikey K. Simon Rex and Dustin Milligan are perfect in the roles of the misguided brothers and Brenda Song and Tony Cavalero give funny as heck support as does Jason Biggs playing a parody of himself. If you’re into absurdist comedies, then check this one out!!!

The film is now playing in select theaters!
