A couple faces a reality check in their two-decade marriage over the course of one night in this short film.
Over the course of one night, a couple has a somewhat meaningful conversation first in a coffee shop with what looks like a first date. Then, they go to a restaurant for dinner, where we learn they have been married for twenty years. Finally, they are in a bar, where they are finally in touch with each other’s realities.
This is a fascinating look at real-life through the eyes of a couple. The opening moments look like we see a couple on a coffee date, as if they are meeting for the first time. From the performances of Heather Bayles and Timothy J. Cox, it looks like they have first date nerves. It is then we are taken to a dinner date between the two. Has time passed? We learn the couple have actually been married for twenty years and have come in touch with reality, which leads to the climactic moment at the bar.
We see the various range of emotions especially from Cox’s character, simply as “Him”; while Bayles’ “Her” seems more constrained and just somewhat blows Him off as if she is convinced that this is the reality they both face.
Good Luck to Me is quite fascinating to see the different stages of a couple but seen in a different way that was quite unexpected. However, the contrasting performances of its stars stand out in this one.
The short film will begin its film festival circuit run soon!
