Jackie Chan in Armour of God (1986)

Earlier this month, it was announced that Jackie Chan would return to the character of “Asian Hawk” Jackie/JC in a fourth installment of the Armour of God franchise, Chan’s answer to Indiana Jones. A few days ago, a director was announced in the form of Kazakh-born stuntman and actor Robert Kun.

Kazakh stuntman/actor Robert Kun, who will direct Jackie Chan’s Ultimatum

Kun, well regarded in his native Kazakhstan, has collaborated with many major studios and had worked as a stunt coordinator and fight choreographer on local films such as I am Dragon and The Last Warrior franchise.

Chan’s recent trip to Almaty confirmed he was doing some location scouting for the new Armour of God film, titled Ultimatum. It was there that Chan had met with Kun and decided he will be the one to take the reins on the film as both director and fight choreographer.

This will be the first in the franchise where Chan will not be helming the film himself since the Eric Tsang-directed prologue of the original film. After Chan’s near fatal accident during production of the prologue, he took over directing the rest of the film, released in 1986. This was followed by Operation Condor in 1991 and Chinese Zodiac in 2012.

Ultimatum is set to begin production in the Spring of 2026 with a good portion to be shot in Kazakhstan.
