A handyman becomes the unlikely hero the world needs in this fun horror-comedy that shows a WorldFilmGeek Hall of Famer like never before!
Trevor Harmony has thought he could be successful after graduating college. However, he has been relegated to becoming a handyman working at a local school. There is something more for his destiny when he learns from his father that he is the latest in a family of witch hunters and when it’s time, Travis must learn his destiny. He has to wait for now as he must go to the sorority to fix their toilet.
He is friends with some of the sorority sisters. When he and Morgan come across a secret passageway in the basement, they find an old book. House mother Angela kicks Travis out and reveals herself to be a witch to the sisters. She plans to summon the four elemental witches and wreak havoc. When she succeeds, she is killed but the witches take over the bodies of Morgan, Amber, Jenny, and Circey. When Travis discovers what has happened, he now knows what fate has in store for him. It is up to him to find a way to stop the witches once and for all.
Joe Davison is a Floridian filmmaker who has a love of horror and sci-fi considering his impressive resume, which even includes playing a nerdy tech on four episodes of the hit series Stranger Things. His latest film brings him in the lead role of Trevor Harmony, the latest of a long line of witch hunters who is also your residential neighborhood handyman. He learns this destiny from his dying father, played by Richard Elfman in a funny as hell cameo who tells him the truth while reaming him out at the same time from his deathbed.
The film makes excellent use of the legendary Felissa Rose, who plays sorority house mother Angela. It is clear Rose loves having fun with her roles as this one allows her to not only show some over-the-top madness, but in a scene where she is explaining to sister Amber about the book, she gives off a total sensual vibe that is more in line to a succubus rather than a witch. The foursome of sisters who become possessed by the witches are excellent in their possessed state. Sydney Carvill, Kaleina Cardova, Chelsea Jordan, and Jaime Brightbill do so well in their dual personalities from the eclectic sisters to the possessed witches.
However, the real shock comes in the final 15 to 20 minutes when the witches reveal themselves. You will get to see WorldFilmGeek Hall of Famer Sarah French, former WWE superstar Katerina Severen, Anna Sofie Christensen, and Renee Daw all unrecognizable as the Air, Earth, Fire, and Water Witches in all their crazed glory. French was the major surprise as her career speaks volumes and this is the first we see her in heavy makeup and yet still shows why she is set to be one of the new icons of the genre.
Sorority of the Damned is a must for lovers of horror and comedy, especially the low budget variety. Joe Davison is a force to reckon with both in front and behind the cameras with Felissa Rose and Sarah French showing why they are still aces when it comes to the genre.
The film is now streaming on Tubi.
