WFG RATING: A-

A Railsback Production/Eye on Excellence Production film. Directed, lensed, and edited by Craig Railsback. Produced by Dawna Lee Heising. Written by Craig Railsback; story by Dr. Heather Joseph Witham.

Stars Lejon Stewart and Dawna Lee Heising.

What starts out as a simple job application goes much bigger in Craig Railsback’s short film.

Todd is on his way to a job interview and upon his arrival, he meets the AI program who will conduct the interview, Athena 2.0. It starts out wonderfully and Todd thinks he had it made. However, Athena soon confronts Todd about some of his past actions, which makes him begin to question why he is there if he was only looking for a job. Soon, Todd finds himself at the cusp of something terrible having happened to him and in order to get the job, he must find himself first.

AI is quite an interesting concept that we all know is a double-edged sword. While some aspects of AI can be good, some aspects can be bad. As with the case with the film The Correction Unit, which showed both sides of the AI spectrum. For this short film, the AI program goes on a curve but has a more positive goal in mind in helping our lead character seek redemption.

WorldFilmGeek Hall of Famer Dawna Lee Heising shines as Athena, the AI program who conducts and ultimately becomes a beacon of hope for our protagonist Todd, played by Lejon Stewart. Todd finds himself conflicted as the interview goes on but soon realizes to get the job, he must find himself first.

The Job is a very good short film that shows AI in an at-first questionable aspect only to show the more positive aspect. Dawna Lee Heising once again shines and Lejon Stewart is great as the man applying for a job only to find something bigger.

The film is currently playing in film festivals. Special Thanks to Dawna Lee Heising for allowing me to see the film.
