A widow attempts to overcome the challenges thrown her way and find herself in this short film.

Agatha sits in a shoe store and has one small problem. She has two left feet. She has been looking for something to do since the passing of her husband. As she sits and watches TV one day, she comes across an ad for a dance studio. Learning the first lesson is free with no experience necessary, Agatha heads to the D’Amico Dance Studio. When she meets Martin, the head of the studio, she starts to feel uncomfortable. However, with Martin’s advice, Agatha proves that anyone can achieve anything and overcome the odds.

This is a pretty feel good short film from writer/director Emily Everhard that brings up an age old lesson of being able to overcome anything with hard work and to help overcome your fears. From the moment you meet our protagonist Agatha, played excellently by Brenda Wehle, you will want to root for her. This film could pair well with films like Shall We Dance? And Dance of a Dream to name a few.

When we see Agatha attempting to dance with studio owner Martin, played with such charm and bravado by Mikey Graceffa, we see her just giving up until he asks her why she wants to dance. And he soon becomes her inspiration to overcome the odds and find it in her soul to do what she wants. We see the reluctance when she leaves until she decides to finally find her passion. It is so heartwarming to see this final scene as the dream soon becomes achieved.

No Experience Necessary has a great message in this heartwarming tale of a woman with two literal left feet who finds herself as she achieves what she thinks it’s impossible.

The film is currently playing in the festival circuit. A big thanks to VIncent Stalba for getting me to see this!
