Robert Bronzi, the Hungarian “Charles Bronson”, finds his greatest challenge match in this thriller from the director of Painkiller.

Six months ago, Detective Toth had stopped a robbery but his unorthodox methods resulted in him being kicked off the force. Just prior to the incident, his wife Tammy was brutally murdered when he wasn’t home and had arrived too late. In the present day, a woman is viciously mauled and killed at the local trainyard. Toth is called in and discovers the victim was killed the same way as Tammy. Getting his badge back temporarily, Toth begins the investigation.

As Toth begins to find clues as to who could have murdered Tammy and the young woman at the trainyard, he reunites with former mine worker turned retired athlete Marco. More bodies begin to pile up. When two women are found dead in a small town run by Sheriff Stacy Cooper, Toth and Cooper form a team and soon discover they are up against not a human, not an animal, but something more deadly, a werewolf.

He’s faced thugs. He’s faced serial killers. He’s faced home invaders. Now, the Hungarian Charles Bronson, Robert Bronzi, is back. This time, he faces his greatest challenge yet in the form of a werewolf in this film. With a great storyline (co-written by Joe Knetter, producer Jeff Miller, director Mark Savage, and Tom Parnell) that leaves you guessing plus some very intense kill scenes, this is a pretty good movie in the long run.

Once again, Bronzi shines as Toth, the detective who looks out to avenge the death of his wife when a series of murders pop up months later that resemble that of his late wife. Of course, in homage to his childhood hero, Bronzi opens the film stopping a robbery Death Wish style and in the midst of all that goes on, he sports a long gun when it comes time for the climax. We get to see a little of Bronzi show some boxing skills in a friendly spar against Marco, played well by MMA legend Tito Ortiz.

Another standout is the great Sadie Katz, who plays the tough Sheriff Stacy Cooper, who at first is reluctant to have Toth involved. One great line is when Toth says he is looking for something and her response is classic, “this is an investigation, not a lost and found”. However, when she learns of Toth’s involvement in why, she decides to help and in a surprising move, we get to see Katz go unarmed briefly against the werewolf, who has a distinct look with one red eye, when she protects her daughter.

The film leaves you guessing who the werewolf is and I will say, the end result was quite a surprise. But you’re gonna have to see 12 to Midnight especially if you are a Bronsploitation fan with Robert Bronzi leading the way.
