A reunion between old friends is about to get deadly in this film from the crew who brought you Psycho’Ward and Don’t Go Into the Woods at Night.
It has been thirty years since Jane has met up with some old friends and decides to have a reunion at her place. She is met by the likes of Ron, Dave, Steve, Gretch, Rose, Penny, and Melissa. At first, things go pretty well as musicians Steve and Dave play for the crowd. They soon play a game of “Never Have I Ever”. However, as the day goes on, suspicions begin to occur when some of the guests begin to get sick and soon all will be revealed as to why it’s happening.
What’s quite fascinating with this film from indie filmmaker Dennyann Giambrone is that it starts with a bit of a flashback three decades ago where a little gathering of friends results in some bullying where a character is called “Bloody Mary” only to get reamed out by the victim’s mother. This leads to the present day, where Jane, played by Giambrone, invites some old friends to her house for a fun reunion full of laughs and games.
However, what’s even more surprising is that most of the reunion itself is ad-libbed. This gave free reign to the actors who are all involved. One of the big surprises of the film is the character of Ron, who is played by Ron Fazio. For those who love Troma films, everyone will know Ron as one of the two actors who would play The Toxic Avenger in the 1989 sequels The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie. Fazio even gets to reference the role when they play the “Never Have I Ever” game.
Halfway through its 48-minute runtime is where things really start getting strange when we see things start to slowly go crazy. From drugged drinks to eventual killings, it becomes somewhat of a surprise who may be responsible. However, the finale takes quite a shocking twist and is quite unexpected.
Reunion is actually pretty good with its ad-libbed dialogue as it bring a more natural chemistry amongst the cast. A surprise to see former Toxic Avenger Ron Fazio in the film, even going as far to reference the films.
The film is available to view on Sparkk TV
