The Trailer Park Boys are back with Bubbles taking center stage in this raucous film that takes the group to Europe of all places.

Bubbles, Ricky, and Julian are still causing chaos at the Sunnyvale Trailer Park. However, Bubbles wants to do something different and he decides to form a country band. After finding the members of his group, he christens the band the Shitrockers. When they perform a local gig to rave from the crowd, they attract the attention of Billy Bob Thornton, who offers the Shitrockers a chance at a major tour alongside his band, The Boxmasters.

With Randy, the trailer park manager, as their roadie, the European tour starts out okay at first with the Shitrockers gaining notoriety and rave from the crowds. However, soon enough, some behind the scene antics force the Shitrockers to get stern warnings from both Thornton and his road manager. However, when things go too far, the Shitrockers are kicked off the tour and now stuck in the middle of London, it is up to Ricky and Julian to get Bubbles and the band back to Sunnyvale.

Since its inception in 1999, Trailer Park Boys has been one of the greatest things to come from our neighbors to the north since…Degrassi? SCTV? The crazy movies from there? Anyway, the series has gained an amazing following and it would lead to a few feature films. However, since the end of the 12th season in 2012 (with a 13th season being planned to begin filming this year), this new film is more of a spinoff with Bubbles as the lead and it is quite funny at times with one small minor flaw.

Mike Smith returns as Bubbles and he’s quite funny as he decides to form a country band and has a guitar that once belonged to a “Buddy Hawley”. There is one scene where Ricky, played by Robb Wells, confronts the camera crew at Sunnyvale as he didn’t want to get involved at first with another documentary. Of course, he changes his mind later. Julian, played again by John Paul Tremblay, has a desire at first to be part of the band, but Ricky convinces him not to.

The antics once again come into play and some of the gags are pretty damn funny. One involves a band member forced to leave the tour when he rubs his face with cat hair and ends up having a bad allergic reaction. Another, one of the incidents on the tour, involves Randy getting too frisky with someone’s father! Thankfully it’s not seen but definitely implied and confirmed with Bubbles confronting Randy. The film also boasts some cameos from the likes of music icons like Ron Wood (Rolling Stones), Duff McKagan (Guns n Roses), and others.

Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and Shitrockers Story is a pretty fun and wacky installment of the Trailer Park Boys franchise. The music is quite fun and the antics are insane. Those especially who are fans of TPB are going to enjoy this one!
