The search for a mole goes horrifically and comically wrong in this funny homage to Hong Kong action comedies from filmmaker Kenji McGuire.

A secret organization is meeting to discuss that there is a rat within the group. When the boss demands the rat be exposed immediately, she is unexpectedly murdered in front of the group. However, the group hasn’t seen what happened except the knife in her back. As members continue to die, the ones left soon realize who the rat is and chaos is set to ensue.

Aaron McGuire, also known as Kenji McGuire, is a young actor and filmmaker who has a love of martial arts films, especially the world of Hong Kong action comedies. While the runtime for this short film is only five and a half minutes, it is a hilarious five and a half minutes. The way the deaths are handled are laugh out loud funny, especially when a conversation between two members has the “rat” in the background nonchalantly stabbing a few others like nothing.

The showdown between McGuire and Angel Lopez is exciting to watch. The duo, who also choreographed this fight, know their stuff and have some exciting knife fighting in the vein of recent Hong Kong flicks like Raging Fire to name one. It’s a lot of fun seeing this homage to the Hong Kong action comedy.

If you love action-comedies, this short film is definitely one to watch. It’s only five-and-a-half minutes, but you will be laughing and enjoying a nicely edited final confrontation.
