Just when all hope may have seen lost, it is great to say these words today: Rendel is back!!!

Thanks to Film Combat Syndicate, who told me of the news, Black Lion and Raven Banner have unleashed the trailer to one of the most anticipated sequels in Rendel: Cycle of Revenge.

Shot before the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was being edited when the creator of the character, filmmaker Jesse Haaja, had announced his retirement from directing from films and music videos, where he was behing many music videos for Finnish band The Rasmus. However, it looks like we’re finally getting the sequel to the underrated superhero vigilante film with Black Lion releasing the trailer today along with an official poster.

After losing his family, the masked vigilante RENDEL is caught in a cycle of revenge, destroying the VALA organization piece by piece. VALA’s ruthless leader Christopher “Smiley” Cox is about to release a harmful NH25 vaccine worldwide, which Rendel is trying to stop. A spiral of violence awakens the ghosts of the past and raises the stakes in the battle against a mythical enemy. Can a vigilante be a hero?

Kris Gummerus returns as the titular Rendel along with original film stars Tero Salenius and Minna Nevanoja, with Kaitlyn Boye, Bruce Payne, and Sean Cronin playing members of the VALA organisation with Cronin taking the lead villain role of “Smiley”. Jessica Wolfe takes over the role of Maria from original star Alina Tomnikov.

There are no release dates announced as of yet, but this is perhaps some great news because Rendel is the dark hero we all need!
