This short film revolves around an agent forced to make a decision that could change his client’s career.

Peter Gibney is one of the best agents in the modeling industry. For over 15 years, he has had a client in Hope Harmon and the two have always respected each other practically like family. Hope’s dream is to work with one of the biggest designers, Braden-Willoughby. However, they want Hope to go through changes and Peter has always resisted. When they decide not to hire Hope, Peter is faced with telling his longtime client the hard truth about the industry.

From director Maya Ahmed, this short film revolves around an issue that sometimes has to be addressed. Today’s world of modeling seems to be more inclusive, but what if a major designer still follows and stands by its old school ways? And by that, it is because in order to get hired, the models need to have a specific look and it becomes a harsh reality here not just for the model. The mere fact that her agent has to break the bad news, especially one who has worked with her for a decade and a half is really tough.

One of the film’s high points are Timothy J. Cox as agent Peter, who we see sitting in a car and contemplating how to break the news. Meanwhile, we see Hope, wonderfully played by Paige Hoover, excited as she is doing a new photo shoot. However, it is once Peter sits her down and breaks this hard truth is when the poop slowly hits the fan as we see the one strong bond between the two slowly begin to deteriorate. However, despite all efforts from Peter to explain he did his best to convince the outlet to hire Hope, it fails, and Peter finds himself feeling horrible.

Hard Truths is an emotional and realistic look at the old ways of the modeling industry and the tough decisions an agent must make when telling his client why she will not be hired. Timothy J. Cox and Paige Hoover are aces here in their roles and is definitely worth checking out.
