After some first look images were revealed, the much anticipated trailer to the reboot of The Crow has finally been released and in my honest opinion, I’m digging it.
Sure, it is never going to be on the same level as the original film (which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year) starring the late scion Brandon Lee, but it does brings something a bit different to the mix and that’s okay.
Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.
It looks like Bill Skarsgard brings something similar to what he did with his take on Pennywise in 2017’s It. While at first, he was compared to the original character upon first look, Skarsgard brought his own take to the character and added a touch of ruthlessness and viciousness to the demonic clown. It looks like he’s doing the same here, knowing full well it can’t compare to Lee’s original take. Rather, unleash his own form of the Eric Draven character and make him a ruthless avenger.
FKA Twigs and Danny Huston co-star in the Rupert Sanders-directed film, from a screenplay by Zach Baylin and William Schneider based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr.
The film will be coming soon to theaters.
