A serial killing couple looking for a home find themselves finding more potential victims in this very tense horror film meshing the psychological with the gore people love.

Bianca and Zeke are a couple who are also serial killers. En route to an escape to Mexico, they come to a small motel where they kill the owners and claim the place for themselves. Things start out well at first. However, when another group comes in to stay at the motel, the two must pose as the owners first. As the night goes on, Bianca slowly begins to unleash her mode of “fun” while Zeke awaits.

As Bianca starts a new killing spree with the new group, Zeke begins to become worrysome and uncomfortable with the situation. It gets to where the two even start arguing, with Zeke fearing they will eventually be caught. Meanwhile, as the body count rises, the survivors must try to somehow escape the “owners” from this motel of horrors.

Written and directed by Gianna Lutz, this movie is an insane wild ride as we meet the serial killing Biana and Zeke within the first five minutes of the film. Played by Lutz and Adam Kitchen, they come off like a gender reversal of Mickey and Mallory of Natural Born Killers fame. It is quite interesting to see the female half of a serial killing couple become the dominating force as she thrives on bloodlust while Zeke either steps back or follows Bianca’s orders.

The film feels like a meshing of the aforementioned Natural Born Killers, Motel Hell, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. While the elderly couple owning the hotel become the film’s first victims, it is when we meet three couples who are the potential victims as they are en route to a retreat. The couples include Erica and Dylan, who are in the process of trying to make amends after Dylan makes a mistake; Stacey and Blake, and LGBTQ couple Logan and Marcus.

The kill scenes are quite a combination of ways to get dispatched. One of the best deaths is reminiscent of a kill scene from the cult classic 2001 Maniacs. There’s a lot of stabbings and even as mentioned there’s a reason why I mention this film has shades of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. They are great kills scenes and kudos go to SFX artists Melissa Long and Skye Smith for giving us the gore to complement the psychological aspect of the genre.

Hands of Hell is a horror gem people should check out. Those who are fans of Natural Born Killers, Texas Chain Saw Massacre will enjoy this one and Gianna Lutz is definitely a name to look out for as she pulls off a great performance in front and is a force to reckon with behind the cameras.
