If Caddyshack has a love child with Troma, then this insane horror-comedy from director Anthony Catanese is the end result!

At the Old Glory Holes golf course, there is an upcoming tournament for the rich folks as led by the owner of the place, Wells Landon. When he asks groundsleeper Hambone to get rid the gophers on the course, he does so by creating a new synthetic pesticide guaranteed to kill the gophers. Or so he thought. Soon enough, not only do the gophers survive, but they have mutated into killing machines, making random golfers their victims.

Meanwhile, Wells has made his inexperienced niece Becky the new caddy manager, which doesn’t bode well with the caddies. That is with the exception of Googie, who is constantly being bullied by the others for being too nerdy. Becky and Goggie slowly begin to fall for each other but upon learning of the gophers, decide to help Hambone wage war against the creatures. However, will the other caddies help keep the course clear of the menacing rodents? Or will they not give a damn and continue to do what they want to do?

It is a rarity to see a combination of horror films and sports, let along that sport being golf. However, there are two perfect examples. One is the 1989 film Blades, revolving around a demonically possessed lawnmower wreaking havoc on a golf course. The other is the 2000 film The Greenskeeper, which featured controversial former pitcher John Rocker as the titular killer on a course as well. Now, we have this amazing treat from D.I.Why Films, which meshes Caddyshack with some wild and insane things you may expect in a Troma film complete with musical numbers.

Nick Twist is hilarious as Carl, oh um…Hambone, the groundskeeper in charge of getting rid of the gophers. However, his plan to get rid of them would result in the gophers mutating into the murderous monsters as perhaps as a homage to the classic 1980 film, is all puppetry. The gophers even go far as talk to each other as in a pivotal scene where a character dies, a certain controversial line from a controversial ex-President is muttered by a gopher before the victim dies. Hambone also has a running gag of suffering some sort of injury in his attempts.

Christy Cavallo’s Becky is treated by most of the caddies (all male in the film) as eye candy despite her having a sense of intelligence. It is clear she is increasingly annoyed with them with the exception of Jake Foy’s Googie, who is the brunt of the caddies’ bullying along with a character who appears out of nowhere and is ripped on for finally speaking. This leads to an insane party/dance battle scene that well, goes out there. As if that’s not crazy enough, there are also musical numbers, one involving Becky and Googie professing their love for each other and a war cry song that leads to a final showdown with the gophers.

Caddy Hack lives up to the name as this is a wild popcorn flick who love both Caddyshack and Troma films! If you want to see puppet gophers talking trash and killing, then this is your film!
