That bad mother…okay, time to shut my mouth. But he is coming back!
Samuel L. Jackson will be returning as private eye John Shaft, the central character in the 2000 reboot of the classic Blaxploitation film Shaft, in which he played the nephew of the O.G. himself, Richard Roundtree. Expect an appearance from the original Shaft himself in the new film.
The new film, which scores the title of Son on Shaft, will revolve around the estranged son of Jackson’s Shaft, to be played by Independence Day: Resurgence‘s Jessie T. Usher. An FBI agent and cyber expert, Usher will be forced to team up with Jackson in the new film.
It has been announced that Netflix will be joining New Line Cinema on the film, putting up half of the film’s 30 million dollar budget. Barbershop director Tim Story will be directing the film from a script by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris with filming to begin in December.
More as this develops.
