The first trailer to Netflix’s Americanized version of the Japanese manga and anime Death Note has arrived.

Nat Wolff plays Light Turner, a young man who one day receives a book in which when a name is written, that person will die. He is investigated by the mysterious detective L, played by Kieth Stanfield. Willem Dafoe provides the voice of the Shinigami, Ryuk, who is Light’s ally in unleashing this new brand of “justice”.

Adam Wingard directed the film, which is set to be released exclusively on Netflix laster this year.
