On November 26, Taiwan held its 53rd Annual Golden Horse Film Awards. The awards are Taiwan’s equivalent of the Academy Awards. Newcomer director Zhang Dalei‘s The Summer is Gone took the biggest prize of Best Picture at the event, but Zhang would lose out to veteran Feng Xiaogang for the Best Director Award. In a tie, the two lead actresses from the film Soul Mate, Ma Sichun and Zhang Dongyu won the Best Actress award.
