Now this is what a “teaser trailer” should be about!
Sony Pictures has unveiled the teaser trailer to Venom, a spin-off that will begin the live-action Spider-Verse films with Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a former photographer who becomes the alien-symbiote sporting villain turned anti-hero Venom.
Eddie Brock heads to San Francisco to start life anew until he finds himself under threat by villains who are similar to Venom. The teaser does not give us a glimpse of Hardy as Venom, but that’s okay. After all, this is a “teaser trailer”. Perhaps when the official trailer is released, we will get the long awaited shot of Hardy as full Venom.
Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed co-star in the film, directed by Ruben Fleischer.
Venom comes to theaters on October 5 from Sony
Venom may have found a possible love interest.
With production set to begin on the film next month, it has been announced that Michelle Williams (left) is in talks to play a district attorney and possible love interest to Tom Hardy‘s Eddie Brock, who transforms into the Spider-Man based anti-hero as the result of an alien symbiote.
Sony, who is making the film, has said on numerous occasions that the film will not be related to their take on Spider-Man, who is quite comfortable at this time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will be a standalone film that is aiming for an R-rating and it has been confirmed that the villain will be another alien symbiote-born monster, Carnage.
Riz Ahmed has signed on to co-star with Ruben Fleischer set to direct for an October 5, 2018 release from Sony.
In what looks to be the most surprising casting news this week, Tom Hardy will be playing one of Marvel Comics’ classic villains.
Hardy will play Venom in the Sony Pictures spin-off currently in development that is not related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Venom is the alter ego of Eddie Brock, a photographer at the Daily Bugle who merges with an alien symbiote that once had attached itself to Peter Parker. When Brock gets the symbiote, he becomes Venom.
Ruben Fleischer will be directing the film from a script by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Shooting is scheduled to begin this fall with a release date of October 5, 2018 locked down.
H/T: Dark Horizons
Once a rumored project that was set to go then disappeared off the face of the earth in the awakening of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony Pictures has announced that Venom is coming to life again!
The classic Marvel Comics villain will be getting his own film. Sony Pictures has announced a set date for October 5th, 2018. They also have two writers set to script the film. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner will be writing the story of Daily Bugle reporter Eddie Brock, who due to his merging with an alien symbiote that once a part of Spider-Man turns Brock into the sinister “Anti-Spidey” known as Venom.
The character was brought to life in 2007 by Topher Grace in Sam Raimi‘s final installment of his Spidey trilogy, which was also considered the worst of that particular series.
With a director and casting still yet to be locked down, one thing is for sure. Expect to see Venom on October 5, 2018 from Sony Pictures.
