The “dead” are set to “rise” again in a new installment of the cult classic franchise The Evil Dead.

Lee Cronin, known for his 2019 directorial debut The Hole in the Ground, will be writing and directing the new film, which will be called Evil Dead Rise. Cronin was picked by Sam Raimi, who will serve as executive producer alongside Ash himself, Bruce Campbell. Robert Tapert, who produced the original 1981 film, will serve as a producer on the film.

The film will not be set in a cabin, but actually in a city setting with Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan playing two estranged sisters whose reunion gets cut short by flesh-possessing demons.

The film will be set up at New Line Cinema and will be an HBOMax Original Film. More as this develops.
