Horror Icon Desiree Gould Passes Away

Aunt Martha, may you Rest in Peace.

It was announced that horror icon Desiree Gould, who played the iconic Aunt Martha Thompson in the 1983 cult classic Sleepaway Camp has passed away at the age of 76.

The news was announced by Gould’s co-star Felissa Rose, who played the iconic Angela Baker in the original film. Many outlets sent their tributes to Gould as well.

Prior to the iconic role, Gould, a trained singer and dancer, appeared in commercials and on stage before making her film debut in the made for TV movie You Can’t Go Home Again opposite Lee Grant. After Sleepaway Camp, she took a long hiatus from acting to work as a real estate agent and returned to acting in 2006 with a role in Under Surveillance. However, during her hiatus, she had participated in Sleepaway Camp related interviews and project.
