It’s time for your weekly post of new trailers that debuted this week!
We start with the long awaited Jiu Jitsu, which reunites Alain Moussi and Dimitri Logothetis, the star and co-writer/director of Kickboxer: Retaliation. Moussi leads an action ensemble cast including Nicolas Cage, Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan, and Tony Jaa as he plays an amnesiac who learns his destiny against an alien warrior can save humanity. Christmas in Carolina is an upcoming Holiday romantic comedy that reunites Family Matters stars Kelly Shanygne-Williams and Darius McCrary as the parents of the male protagonist, who invites the reluctant female lead to his home for the Holidays to bring back some Christmas cheer to her life. (Digital, VOD, November 1)
Playhouse is the story of a notorious horror writer, who moves into an ancient castle with his teenage daughter, to work on his next play; only to face terrifying consequences when his daughter falls prey to a
Supernatural evil lurking within the castle walls. Directed and produced by brothers Fionn and Toby Watts. (VOD, November 17)
In The World Without You, a family gathers to honor the memory of their journalist son, Leo Frankel, who was killed in Iraq the previous year. They are confronted with old hurts, as well as dark secrets, that threaten to tear the fragile threads holding the family together. (VOD, November 1)
Sleepless Beauty tells a twisted story about a young woman, Mila, who is kidnapped by a mysterious organization known as Recreation. Her unknown abductors talk to her through a loudspeaker and set strict rules: she cannot sleep and has to fulfill bizarre and violent tasks if she hopes to stay alive. At first, it looks like someone’s sick idea of entertainment but as the demands become more intense, Mila begins to realize that she is losing control of her own mind and instead, may be a pawn in a twisted and deadly psychological experiment. Love in Dangerous Times is a “socially distanced” romantic story between a playwright and a young woman whom he meets via online dating as they both fear the worst when it comes to the pandemic. (VOD< November 3)
Call Me Brother tells the story of a reunited brother and sister who fear the craziest of all things: initmacy towards each other. This dysfunctional family film stars Andrew Dismukes and Christina Parrish as the siblings. (Virtual Theaters, November 6)
Formerly known as Altar Rock, the latest film from Andrezj Bartrowiak is known as Dead Reckoning and stars Riverdale’s Archie himself, K.J. Apa as a young man who summer romance with Kite’s India Eisley is threatened when his brother, played by Scott Adkins, returns and has a plan to bomb the coastal area where the star-crossed lovers meet. (VOD, Digital, November 13).
