In what could be described as one of the biggest WTF moments of the year, the children’s classic series The Banana Splits has a feature film adaptation…but it’s not what you think, at all!
The beloved characters made up of Fleegle, Bingo, Dropper, and Snorky have gone rogue in a whole new menacing fashion in The Banana Splits Movie, which has been officially rated R for violence and gore…yes, these one-time lovable musicians are now cold-blooded killers!
A boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth, and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?
The film stars Dani Kind, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, Romeo Carere, Steve LundandSara Canning. Danishka Esterhazy directed from a script by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas, based on the characters created by Sid and Marty Krofft.
The film is set to be released later this year on Blu-Ray and Digital from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment with SyFy getting the television premiere.
