The early days of rock music in the former Soviet Union is paid tribute in the official trailer to Leto, which made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Leningrad, in the summer, early eighties. Smuggling LP’s by Lou Reed and David Bowie, the underground rock scene is boiling ahead of the Perestroika. Mike and his beautiful wife Natasha meet with young Viktor Tsoï. Together with friends, they will change the trajectory of rock n’roll music in the Soviet Union.
The film stars Teo Yoo, Irina Starshenbaum, and Roman Bilyk. The film was directed by Kirill Serebrennikov from a script by the husband-wife team of Mikhail Idov and Lili Idova.
The film will make its U.S. premiere in Los Angeles on May 31st followed by a New York premiere on June 7th from Gunpowder and Sky.
