Who would have thought the 1977 cult horror film The Car would get a sequel? It comes as no surprise that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment would unleash one.
The original film revolved a driverless car that was wreaking havoc in a small town, prompting James Brolin to find a way to stop the menacing automobile. The upcoming sequel, The Car: Road to Revenge, takes a brand new direction not only with its setting, but more of a revenge seeking style thriller.
“In a dilapidated cyberpunk city plagued by crime and corruption, an unscrupulous District Attorney is savagely murdered and tossed out of a building onto his brand new car. Mysteriously, the District Attorney and his car come back to life as a single being with a thirst for vengeance. The eerie driverless car embarks on a vicious rampage exacting revenge on the criminals who murdered him.”
The sequel was directed by G.J. Echternkamp and stars Grant Bowler, Kathleen Munroe, Nina Bergman, and Martin Hancock.
The Car: Road to Revenge is coming unrated on January 8, 2019 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
