The original Lando Calrissian is returning.
It has been announced that Billy Dee Williams will return as the former thief turned eventual ally in the original Star Wars trilogy, making his debut in The Empire Strikes Back, is returning to the role in the upcoming Episode IX.
With what has transpired in the last two installments and the passing of Carrie Fisher, it will be unclear how Lando will come into play in the next film. However, aside from Chewbacca, Lando will be the only other connection still alive between the original trilogy to the recent films.
Donald Glover played a young Lando in the recently released but panned Solo: A Star Wars Story.
J.J. Abrams is currently working on the script and will return to helm Star Wars: Episode IX, due for release in December 2019.
