Chris McKay‘s in-developmental take on DC Comics’ Nightwing may have found perhaps one of the best castings for the role.

Confirmed in a recent Instagram post, Chinese-British martial artist and actor Lewis Tan had went to DC and met with McKay in discussions about taking on the titular role of the character, who is none other than the first Robin, Dick Grayson, all grown up and ready to take on a new superhero identity.

Tan is the son of martial artist, stuntman, stunt coordinator and actor Philip Tan, who started his career with a stunt role in 1989’s Batman. Tan would also be known as the first Taekwondo teacher for former child star Jonathan Ke Quan, who trained under the elder Tan for his role in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Tan would go on to work on films such as Martial Law and Bloodsport II to name a few.

As for Lewis Tan, he’s made an impact of late, appearing as X-Force member Shatterstar in Deadpool 2 and as Gaius Chau in the AMC series Into the Badlands.

Have your say. Can you see Lewis Tan as Nightwing? I respond with a resounding “Yes!”
