Stallone Opts Out Directing “Creed II”, Successor Named

Sylvester Stallone is still going to be Rocky…only he will no longer direct.

Originally set to direct Creed II, the sequel to the 2015 spin-off film, Stallone has opted not to helm the film. While he will still be playing the former champ turned trainer of Michael B. Jordan‘s Adonis Creed, Stallone has named his successor who will take over directing the film.

Steven Caple Jr. (right), who made his feature film debut last year with The Land, was picked by Stallone to take over as director in order to “keep up with the current generation”. Stallone made the announcement on Instagram.

Production is set to begin in March 2018 in Philadelphia with a November 2018 release date set.
