The photo says it all.

Production has begun on the live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1992 classic Aladdin. The photo shows Will Smith (Genie), Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine), Marwan Kenzari (Jafar), and Mena Massoud (Aladdin) in a group selfie.

Guy Ritchie is helming the musical, which revolves around street thief Aladdin, who is in love with Princess Jasmine, only to be duped by the evil Jafar (who seeks the throne himself) in an attempt to find a magic lamp and well, you know the rest.

Two brand new characters not seen in the original animated film will appear. The first is Mara, Jasmine’s handmaiden, to be played by former Saturday Night Live performer Nasim Pedrad while Birth of the Dragon co-star Billy Magnussen will play Prince Anders. Navid Negahban plays the Sultan and Numan Acar plays Hakim, the head of the palace guards.

Aladdin is scheduled to come out in 2018.
