Ivan Drago is returning!
Dolph Lundgren, who gained fame after playing the Russian boxer Ivan Drago in 1985’s Rocky IV, will return to the role over three decades later in Creed II, which will see Michael B. Jordan return to the role of Adonis Johnson Creed, the son of Apollo Creed.
Sylvester Stallone, who will return to the role of his iconic Rocky Balboa, has finished the script and Lundgren has confirmed that not only did he see the script, he is ready to return to the role. The sequel, once again, to be helmed by Ryan Coogler, will showcase Adonis’ meeting with Drago, who killed Apollo Creed in Rocky IV, and of course becomes upset, with speculation leading to a one-on-one match between Adonis and Drago.
Lundgren made his official confirmation via Instagram, which shows him training for the film.
Lundgren is also working on Aquaman, where he will play the nefarious King Nerus, who along with Black Manta and Ocean Master, takes on Jason Momoa‘s DC superhero.
Shooting on Creed II is set to begin sometime next year.
